33 Vines is a boutique vineyard and winery located within the boundaries of Ontario’s newest wine region – Prince Edward County. Our site is on historic Highway #33, aka, The Loyalist Parkway, 10 kms east of the Glenora Ferry which connects the Counties of Lennox & Addington and Prince Edward. 33 Vines is producing premium red and white wines from our 10 acres of vinifera grapevines, including: Chardonnay, Riesling, Pinot Noir, Cabernet Franc, and Merlot. Our wines show wonderful characteristics of our cool climate location, from the limestone and clay based loamy soils to the fresh water inlet breezes from Lake Ontario. Fresh fruit, crisp acidity, minerality and delicate flavours are all aspects of our wine that we are extremely proud. – Description from AlexJelena

  • Volpaia: it takes a village, no seriously. The Castello di Volpaia estate is one of the most remarkable wineries I have ever visited. Now, granted I was there in the off-season, but driving up the rather winding road to the hilltop enclave, it’s really not much more than a ring of buildings protecting the inner Castello, can leave you a little p... • Ravenswood – Decades of producing old vine Zinfandel that reflects the vineyard and not the winemaker’s style. Joel Peterson, Ravenswood’s founder and winemaker to this day, was doing the rounds recently here in New York City. I had a chance to sit with him and taste through much of the line-up they are releasing in the coming months. The commit... Read More

  • A user wrote to me asking for some help, and I knew immediately where they should turn! Here's the message:"Just joined and I'm supposed to give a lecture on wine appreciation--history, how to taste, pairing with food, etc to a local medical society in the next few weeks. My only qualification to do this is that I'm the wine lover of the group. ... Read More

  • We live in the far South West of England, a long way from the usual cross Channel ports such as Dover. We do however, have a local ferry operator out of Plymouth which gives the choice of 2 routes to Europe. One to Roscoff in Brittany and the other Santander in Spain. Also you can choose to combine these for a round trip, in by one port and out ... Read More
