A Good Year - Russell Crowe gets to be himself as an English prick who has inherited a vineyard. It was actually quite decent... although I think only 73 people bothered to see it in the theatre.
French Kiss - Kevin Kline as a French vineyard owner falls for Meg Ryan... or was it the other way around?
The Muppet Movie - This is on the list just for the scene where Kermit orders Sparkling wine from Idaho while on a date with Piggy.
Many of the James Bond films have witty wine repartie.
-In Dr. No, Bond is about to smash a bottle when Dr. No says "Stop - its a Dom Perignon 1955 - it would be a pity to break it." To which Bond quips, "I prefer the '53 myself' before putting the bottle down.
-In Goldfinger Bond gets to drink the '53.
-In OHMSS, George Lazenby (Connery's replacement) orders the '57 Dom... a poor vintage! No wonder the producers never asked him back to do a 2nd Bond film!
Funniest wine move? How about Steve Martin's The Jerk. I won't spoil the surprise, but its very, very funny.
Killer Bees and The Earth is Mine both have good portrayals of early 20th Century Napa before the wine boom.
How about one of the best movies of all time: Casablanca! It has many, many references to Champagne including Claude Rains ordering the 1926 Veuve Clicquot - yum!
In one of the Star Trek movies, someone told me that Captain Picard makes Chateau Picard wine on some planet.
Worst wine movie? There's a 90s film called Blood and Wine with Jack Nicholson as a Miami wine shop owner. I can't bring myself to watch it... but I'm curious!
Other contenders (and they are also great films on their own) are Gigi, Notorious, Silence of the Lambs, Dracula, To Catch a Thief, Disclosure, The Maltese Falcon,
Then there's the best wine movie with Lindsay Lohan - the 1998 remake of this 60s Disney classic (I believe its Lohan's first film) has 2 twin sisters separated at birth: one grows up in London and the other in Napa.
Finally, there's a rumor that there are 2 movies in production about the famous 1976 Paris tasting Bottle Shock and The Judgement of Paris?
