13th Street on Snooth

  • From a Local: The weather will be stunning, so pack some cheese, salami and ... and ... Italian Market (822 13th Street) and head out to the West Side of Paso Robles. I always make a stop at Halter Ranch - good wines, great setting. Paso Livo Olive Oil  is nearby- a great place to stop between tastings. Both are very near Denner (call ahead, ... Read More

  • I will be in Paso Robles during the festival this weekend, and came to snooth to look up travel tips that have been posted in the past.  But things have also been changing fast and furious there, places closing up and many others opening.  I thought it might be more efficient to start afresh.  Anyone have any places they think I shouldn't miss, ... • I was going to put this in the Whatcha Drinking Tonight thread. But since there was some Syrah talk going on I thought I'd start a new thread on Cool Climate Syrah.Tonight I'm visiting a wine I haven't had in since May and wanted to see how it is progressing. It comes from high up atop the Yorkville Highlands in the Anderson Valley  which is in ... Read More

  • I like the idea of packaging something very much. Especially if it is to pass hands as a product from creator to customer. It changes perspective, interpretation and how we feel about the product. Powerful stuff. I think people have admitted to being happily sucked into the magic of shiny upgraded Hoovers and cute PDF sized McMeals in the past b... Read More

  • My last email had me in Montepulciano, enjoying the wine, and the view. It really is a wonderful view, high above the rolling fog with other hilltop villages in the distance. Enchanting. Unfortunately the time comes when one must leave Montepulciano on high, and continue on one’s way. Which in my case lead to additional wineries, and a drive thr... Read More

  • 13th Street Cabernet Sauvignon Niagara Peninsula Vqa Rosé 2008

    Snoothrank:

Really enjoy this slightly off-dry Rose. The fruit flavour definitely makes it taste more sweet than it really is. The strawberry notes and Cab body make this a refreshing, fun drink. It reminds me of a Cab Franc Late harvest, minus the syrupy flavours, making it a wine to drink on its own or with a meal (as opposed to dessert). Read More

  • 13th Street Gamay Noir Four Mile Creek Vqa Estate Sandstone 2007

    Snoothrank:

Recently tried this at the Winery and was quite impressed. The dark cherry and pepper was there along with some oak (not too strong but will definitely be nicer with some age) and minerals (petrol to me at the moment), I picked up some to age but will get impatient to try again before the peak (2-3 years from now).
