12 Ranch Wines

541-545-1204 Bonanza, OR 97623
United States

"12 Ranch Wines" is a small family owned winery located in Bonanza, Oregon. We specialize in small, handcrafted lots of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah. Our grapes are hand picked from select vineyards in the Rogue Valley of Southern Oregon. We work very closely with all our vineyards through out the growing season, especially when it gets close to harvest. We must not forget that a great wine begins in the vineyard. Sugar, acid levels and when to harvest are just a few of the decisions our vineyards allow us to make. Discretion over the growing process, not “adjustments” during winemaking, let the grapes natural varietal flavor come through. Our wines reflect the true qualities of each vintage. This wonderful fruit is brought to our facility in Bonanza, hand sorted into the crusher /destemmer and placed into stainless steel fermentation tanks. They are fermented, with the grapes, or cap being punched down by hand 3 times a day to keep skins wet and to extract that great deep dark color. Read more »

  • Don't know D. They bought the property in the 1970s when land in the south of France and the Rhone, both north and south, was really cheap, and they've kept buying property. They got hooked up with Eric Solomon and he hooked them up with Parker and they became a favored estate of his - he said it's one of his favorite estates in CdP.Somehow they... Read More

  • Greetings to all from sunny Languedoc, thanks for taking the time to resond, I appreciate the welcome and the questions (although I cannot answer all of them, or necessarily provide as much detail as you might hope for, as I work full time as well as raising a family). To respond briefly to the questions: Cahors is not in Languedoc-Roussillon (i... Read More

  • Damn OT - did you take a pic of each bottle? Thanks for clarifying which A-R we had. I was surprised by that Clary Ranch because the first time I had it I was kind of wowed and it really didn't do much for me this time. Maybe it's the vintage? Don't know but I'm giving it another chance.Interesting to see the alc levels on these wines. I didn't ... Read More

  • No, mine was not in order.  I made a bunch of sketchy notes, mostly on the backs of pages.  I will say that the wines of the night were the Halcons as far as I was concerned. Agree the Billecart put the UTW in a tough spot.Across the board the food was great.  The wines were interesting. We actually had enough '07s that it was broken into two fl... Read More

  • Value among wines is of course relative, though there are a few factors that help keep prices down and values compelling. For example, the use of oak barrels adds to the cost of a bottle of wine and if you are able to move wines out of the winery quickly, and crop your vines so that they provide a robust yield, while not impacting quality of cou... • Hey everyone, what are some of your favorite 'everyday' or M-F types of wines to accompany a regular dinner?  I personally have enjoyed the Montoya Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa, and I usually pick it up from Total Wines out here in Virginia.  This is one of those fruit-forward cabs that isn't too complex for me to appreciate, and it usually cost...
