Zonte's Footsteps Shiraz-Viognier 2007
Blended with a handful of the aromatic white variety, Viognier, this rich and dark fruited wine offers flavors of blackberry and plum, combining beautifully with subtle blonde tobacco and fine grained tannins. It is medium bodied with a velvety mouthfeel and exotic tropical fruit notes accentuated by subtle cedar oak flavors.
Zonte's Footsteps is located at Langhorne Creek on the Fleurieu Peninsula in South Australia - one of Australia's oldest wine grape districts. The particular climate of the area ensures that the vineyards retain a natural acidity and Zonte's now produces a range of acclaimed wines including a dry rose, viognier, pinot grigio, verdelho, cabernet malbec, shiraz viognier and sangiovese barbera.
Editorial Reviews for Zonte's Footsteps Shiraz-Viognier
Very floral and spicy, apricotty with notes of honeycomb and a slight gamey edge to the plum and lightly jammy black raspberry fruit with a hint of white pepper. This screams out for some lamb! Restrained in the mouth with lighter bodied attack that is a bit drying on the palate. A bit of an earthy style with jammy red and black fruits, a bit peachy even on the backend turning sweet and thicker with the relief of a minerally finish, complex and rich without being quite over the top 91pts
