Zonin Pinot Grigio Friuli 2009

Winemaker's Notes:

Appealing straw-yellow color with delicate greenish reflections. Delicately fruity, relatively full and refined. It offers an ensemble of aromas of great finesse. Remarkably soft and lightly dry yet extremely fresh. Its light and elegant structure makes this an unusually refined and aristocratic wine.

It is here that the roots of this complex company lie: a company that now consists of 11 wine estates with more than 1,800 hectares (3,705 acres) of vineyards located in Italy’s most favorable terroirs. At the center of the Zonin universe is the land, the soils of the estates-which yield some of the greatest Italian wines-and particularly those at Gambellara, where this family of small farmer has steadily handed down, from one generation to the next, a sense of the vine’s life and its beauty. This commitment has brought the family to the very highest level of the Italian wine sector. It has been a journey between heaven and earth through a world of infinite sensations. And at the center there is always the land in which seven generations of the Zonin family have sunk deep roots. Read less

Tart lemon and orange peel nose; abundant flavors of crisp green apple and grapefruit turn almost lemon-lime, with a sweet-tart finish. A superior wine and a great value.

Zoninrsquo;s easy going Pinot Grigio from northeast Italy opens with a bright, luminous appearance and segues to aromas of citrus, peach and pear. The wine is measured in terms of intensity and persistency, but it does offer a crisp, clean finish.

Just what you would expect from a $7 Pinot Grigio. Pleasant citrus and peach aromas and flavors are accented with a touch of almond. A crisp and simple wine.

What a crowd pleaser! This is a light, delightful wine to enjoy on a warm spring day while weeding the garden or with cheese and crackers by a crackling fire.

Straightforward and medium-bodied, with pear and mineral character. Fresh and clean.
