Another example from history: in a book published in London in 1728 the vineyard of Montrachet was mentioned as having a special terroir greatness (Montrachet is in Cote d´Or area of Burgundy). Logically especially French winemakers and vintners often tend to stress the influence of terroir. In past „Vin terroite“ meant a rustic wine with a certain charm. The wine called „gout de terroir“ was often made by overripen grapes and was full of flavour = full of terroir. Read less
