Z'Ivo Pinot Noir 2007

Member Review by aronowm2:

Tightly wound. Not ready for consumption. It smelled absolutely amazing when I opened the bottle. Decanted it for an hour and additionally over the course of a long evening, nothing changed. You can tell that this will be great with the underlying flavors, but it is simply not ready yet.

Pinot Noir Grown For Intensity, Balance and Longevity It’s all about the dirt! Our Pinot Noir is produced entirely from our estate vineyard in the Eola-Amity Hills AVA, in the heart of the Willamette Valley. The shallow volcanic soil in this rocky, east-facing hillside produces Pinot Noir with intense black fruit, spice and earth tones. Our vineyard is densely planted with five clones of Pinot Noir designed to provide a balance of complex flavors: Dijon Clones 114, 115, 667, and 777 and Pommard. At the winery, we strive to showcase the best of each harvest through minimal handling in small lots and wild yeast fermentation; our goal is to taste the year and the vineyard in every vintage. We hand craft our wine at WineWorks Oregon, a small consortium of like-minded winemakers who grow their own grapes. The People Behind the Wine: Our founder and winemaker, John Zelko, established the vineyard in 1995 and has collaborated from the beginning with John Davidson and John Gilpin, veteran vineyard managers and co-owners of WineWorks Oregon. John works alongside Miguel Lopez, winemaker at WineWorks Oregon, to ensure highest quality and consistent wine style. Read less
