Vineyard Notes

Amador County is renowned for producing the finest California Zinfandel wines. The grapes were sourced from organically farmed old vine Zinfandel vineyards that are planted on hillsides with soils of sandy clay loam derived from decomposed granite, unique to the region. Amador County's warm days and cool evening breezes from the Sierras promote full ripening of the grapes and a balanced acidity, leading to a robust, intensely flavored wine.

Tasting Notes

Amador County yields a bold Old Vine Zinfandel wine with rich, bright raspberry and black cherry fruit complemented by hints of earth and spice that add to its complexity.

Food Pairing Suggestions

Zinfandelic's Amador County Old Vine Zinfandel wine makes an excellent food pairing choice for anything hot off the grill, such as grilled tri-tip steak. Try slicing up the steak and throwing it on top of a sourdough dinner roll.

Just tried the Zinfandelic Old Vine Amador Zinfandel 2006. I found it as nice as the 2005 if not better. Full bodied. Flavors of black cherry and raspberry with hints of earth and spice. An elegant Zin that works well with food. Not a fruit/wood bomb.

The 2006 Old Vine Zinfandel is big and bold, balanced with flavors of berries and spice. Delicious with rich foods. I enjoyed it with smoked Gouda and a tomato-based pasta dish.

"A good, rugged Zin for washing down burgers and ribs. It's rich in fruit, soft and lusty, with big tannins framing cherry, berry, cocoa and spice flavors."
