Zind-Humbrecht Riesling Alsace Aoc Clos Häuserer 2007
Zind Humbrecht's 2007 Riesling Clos Häuserer shows all thelimestone/calcareous character this grape variety can acquire from a healthy, slow ripening vintage: lots of minerals, juicy acidity and good weight. Thelower than usual alcohol level makes it a fantastic food wine and its delicatefinish is more enhanced by its acidity and minerality than sheer power.
An "Indice 4", this wine is actually considered "sweet" by Olivier. Fair enough...but it was so lovely, I had to include it in this list. Everything Gewurz should be - rosewater and lychee on the palate with a hint of unctuousness that never turns cloying.

There's good vibrancy to the acidity in this dry, tangy version, with lots of grapefruit and citrus peel up front. Finishes with the floral and white pepper notes typical of the variety. Drink now through 2012.
This dry white shows precise balance, and despite being medium- to full-bodied, seems elegant overall. Tangy acidity enlivens the apple sauce, lychee and clementine flavors, and there's lots of smoke and white pepper on the finish. Delicious. Drink now through 2025.
(14.6% alcohol, 29 g/l r.s. and 3.4 acidity; from young vines in Clos Windsbuhl) Pure, subtle fruit salad aromas lifted by stone. Very sweet and ripe, with good life in the mouth considering its low acidity (this went through ML). A fat style with modest nuance.
This dry, tangy version offers a lot of the grape's signature rose petal and cream flavors, but is also infused with hints of curry spices and plenty of red grape fruit and candies pouring peel. Bright acidity crackles through to the lingering, smoky finish. Drink now through 2019.
Pale medium-gold color. Expressive aromas of smoked meat, rose oil and cinnamon. Plump and spicy, with good ripe acidity and a chewy saline nuance. This is tactile and nicely concentrated, not to mention persistent, for a basic bottling.
Lovely varietal character from highly acclaimed biodynamic winery Zind-Humbrecht. Perfumed with honeysuckle, baking spice and stone fruits, with an exotic palate of lychee, almond, pear, peach and apple pie. Long, beautiful finish.
