What to Expect

Pinot Grigio is one of the world's most popular wines. Also known under the French moniker "Pinot Gris", and even the German "Ruländer" among others, Pinot Grigio is a chameleon of a grape. It is produced in a range of styles, from the light fruity Italian style that has gained popularity, to a more mineral, flinty rich wine favored by the French - particularly in Alsace - and emulated by many in the new world.

Winemakers Notes

Arguably Olivier's top site, the Clos St Urbain delivers outrageously smoky expression, here softened by the luscious, over-ripe pear notesthat come with the late harvest.

Jancis
Robinson

Rating: 18/20 - As reviewed by Jancis Robinson Lots of botrytis and richness. Extremely sweet and unctuous though without, as yet, much actual flavour. One to hang on to but I cannot imagine matching it successfully with food.

Jancis
Robinson

Rating: 18/20 - As reviewed by Jancis Robinson Extremely rich, with a nose almost like gingerbread cake. Round, full and unctuous with quite a bit of syrupy richness. This one's like lychee syrup. There's 15 per cent alcohol and quite a bit of sweetness. Very powerful and sweet and this is one of those wines you do wonder how on earth you're going to drink it - with foie gras perhaps?
