An opulent style, but there’s no lack of intensity and nerve in this lychee- and rose-infused white. Off-dry, with lovely balance and a long aftertaste of flowers and spice. Drink now through 2020.

Bright yellow. Mirabelle, marzipan and nutmeg on the expressive nose. Sweet, dense and highly concentrated, with real generosity and freshness to its fruit flavors. There’s a spiciness here from botrytis. Finishes tactile and powerful. With its 14.4% alcohol and 48 g/l r.s., this could hardly be more different in its balance from the dry and somewhat topheavy 2004, which is 16.2%, with just 4 grams of sugar. It would be a shame to drink this too soon.

Winemaker's Notes:

Rubbing shoulders with Heimbourg & overlooking Turckheim, this small butsteep, WNW facing, red calcareous vineyard tends to give fruit blessed withfine acidity. This was particularly welcome in the super ripe 2005when the tiny, berry by berry, 8hl/ha harvest was especially late& strung-out, giving 280 grams of residual sugar & only 8%abv. Consequently the wine's disarmingly succulent, toast, honey, barley sugar and peach flavours are perfectly balanced by anextra gear of freshness & mouthwatering acidity. Decadent & delicateall in one. Drinking from 2011 till? (David Berry Green, BBR Buyer)
