Bright yellow. Musky aromas of yellow plum and subtle spices. Supple, pure and deep, with an ineffable spice character bringing one back for another sniff and sip. Boasts lovely purity and concentration of fruit and a captivating sugar/acid balance. At this point in our tasting, Humbrecht emphasized that he considers 2005 a superb vintage for gewurztraminer, andldquo;right up there with the best 2002s, 2000s and 1994s.andrdquo;

Exotic and rich, this Gewuuml;rztraminer has a smoky, mineral edge to its rose, apricot and honey flavors. Itrsquo;s big, but never plodding, and resonates on the long finish. Drink now through 2010.

A good value in the world of Zind-Humbrecht wines, this off-dry Gewuuml;rztraminer is super-concentrated, with a silky texture and flavors of lychees and cling peaches. A nice white cherry accent kicks in on the medium finish. Try with Thai fare.

A cheesy, yeasty "Mosel stink" on the nose of Richter's 2009 Graacher Himmelreich Riesling Kabinett did not entirely blow off during the time I could devote to it, but the rest of the scents and flavors that emerged were virtuous: bright lemon; pungent spice; and suggestions of salt and stone, all in a buoyant and ultimately highly refreshing context. A return visit will hopefully find the nose cleared up here, and I suspect the wine has at least 12-15 year potential. The plot in question - for more about whose peculiarities, consult other reports I have written on Richter's wines - has an excellent track record in his hands.Zind-Humbrecht's 2007 Gewurztraminer Herrenweg de Turckheim smells of sweet pea, celery seed, litchi, peach preserves, bacon fat and browned butter. Polished and honeyed, creamy and sultry (but without its 15.5% alcohol generating objectionable heat) it finishes with remarkable reserves of primary juiciness and nips of cress and white pepper which - no doubt along with sheer extract - help keep its sweetness from becoming cloying.

This juicy white delivers honeyed flavors of kumquat, star fruit, candied grapefruit, with exotic spice and smoke. The firm acidity finds precision balance with the silky, mouthcoating texture, and a pretty orange blossom note lingers on the finish. Drink now through 2020.
