There's good vibrancy to the acidity in this dry, tangy version, with lots of grapefruit and citrus peel up front. Finishes with the floral and white pepper notes typical of the variety. Drink now through 2012.

Pale medium-gold color. Expressive aromas of smoked meat, rose oil and cinnamon. Plump and spicy, with good ripe acidity and a chewy saline nuance. This is tactile and nicely concentrated, not to mention persistent, for a basic bottling.

Lovely varietal character from highly acclaimed biodynamic winery Zind-Humbrecht. Perfumed with honeysuckle, baking spice and stone fruits, with an exotic palate of lychee, almond, pear, peach and apple pie. Long, beautiful finish.

A dry white, with an overall elegance and flavors of lychee, yellow peach and white pepper. A nice thread of smoky minerality builds to the finish. Drink now through 2013.

Pale orange-gold. Aromas of pineapple, rose petal and orange oil, plus a suggestion of more exotic fruits. Creamy, spicy and rich, but with the brisk acidity and supporting minerality to support its considerable sweetness. The exotic fruit suggestions carry through on the palate, with a pepperminty note perking up the finish.

This dry white shows precise balance, and despite being medium- to full-bodied, seems elegant overall. Tangy acidity enlivens the apple sauce, lychee and clementine flavors, and there's lots of smoke and white pepper on the finish. Delicious. Drink now through 2025.

Winemaker's Notes:

Intense litchi, rose and herb spices! This is classic Gewurztraminer. The nose is not yet showing everything and it should increase its aromatic power in the next few years. The palate feels at first elegant, almost delicate because the acidity is there to give a strict structure. Some time on the palate and the wine will eventually reveal its richness and power.
