Zilliken Forstmeister Geltz Saarburger Rausch Riesling Kabinett 2009
90+ points John Gilman (View From the Cellar): The Saarburger Kabinett is the Ortsweine level Kabinett from the Zillikens and it is lovely in 2009. The bouquet offers up a beautiful, citric blend of orange zest, lemon, slate, orange blossoms and petrol. On the palate the wine is medium-full, crisp and tensile, with a juicy core of fruit, great focus and cut and a laser-like finish. Just a beautifully vibrant and classy bottle of Kabinett. 2015-2035. (Mar/Apr 2010)

Juicy and refreshing tangerine and Meyer lemon flavors are balanced by crisp acidity. The mineral character of the site should emerge with a few years in the bottle.
The 2005 Saarburger Rausch Riesling Kabinett smells alluringly of cherry and apple blossoms, offers a lovely palate combination of tart red apple skin, sweet cherry flesh, brown spice and wet stones, and finishes with striking refinement, refreshment and delicacy of floral, apple, citrus peel, and mineral notes. As always with the best wines at this address, one would never guess how much residual sugar it is packing, other than to acknowledge its low alcohol and calculate backwards. ldquo;Without high residual sugar, you could not have the delicacy, rdquo; opines Zilliken, ldquo;and the wine would end up tasting like a Spatlese halbtrocken.rdquo; I would pick this Kabinett to gain depth yet hold its freshness for at least a decade.
A light-weight, lively style, showing lemon-lime, apricot and slate notes. Ripe, yet tightly wound, with a bracing finish. Needs time to show all its facets. Best from 2009 through 2022.
A crystalline prism of fruit flavor, with layers of white peach, oranges, pears, strawberries, melon, then a fine mineral grain providing a measure of restraint.
