Zenato Corvina Blend Valpolicella Superiore Ripassa 2006

Winemaker's Notes:

The Amarone is a small jewel in our product line, made from outstanding Corvina, Rondinella and Sangiovese grapes of the Valpolicella Classico zone, in the communes of Sant’Ambrogio, Negrar, Pedemonte, Fumane, San Pietro in Cariano and Marano. After being picked into small, 2.5 kg trays, the grapes are cleaned and placed on drying mats for 4 months in dry, well-ventilated rooms. In January they are finally crushed, then very slowly fermented on the skins; the wine goes into 300-litre French barrels and Slavonian oak barrels for maturation, followed by a year’s ageing in bottle before release. A wine of superb richness and majestic flavors. The exceptional balance of all its components makes it ideal for lengthy cellaring.

Excellent wine. Brings together the best deep blackberry of a California Zinfandel with the subtlety of an Oregon Pinot Noir. Must buy more bottles!

Fruity, rich black cherry. Firm acidity keeps it supple. Rather nice. Solid mineral finish.

Tasted 27-01-2012 Dark Ruby, black cherry and blackberry marmelade, cocoa powder, black pepper and cloves. Really soft sip, full body, warm, black cherry back on palate, velvet tannicity, persistent.

A deep burgandy color, aromas of cherry and licorice were evedent. Tasted the deep berries , the plum and a nice pepper strength. Enjoyable, not outstanding.

Brillantes Granatrot. Zartes Bouquet von Kirschen, Schokolade, Gewürzen, Blumen und Nüssen. Im Gaumen spürbar tanninhaltig, dicht, füllig und weich; langer, anhaltender Abgang.

Wonderful aromas of black licorice and blueberry lead to a full body, with juicy, round tannins. Luscious and decadent. Might be better on toast! A gorgeous wine, this is the real deal for Amarone. Why wait? But a little bottle age should really bring it together. Best after 2011. 1,000 cases imported. -JS , Top 100 2010 ** Only 19 in Stock **
