Zenato Corvina Blend Valpolicella Superiore Ripassa 2000

Member Review by gnocci:

I have had it in my wine cabinet for 3 years and before that in a cool place in my house. This wine is sturdy in ageing. I bought it with the money from selling the old broken drum kit Bastiaan [ Aux Raus ] used while drumming in the band Thom Revolver; he left it to me. This bottle needs to air for an hour, i did it with the cork back on it leaving a small opening. The colour is very dark and with a blood red rim instead of the younger voilet. The nose is full, there is this full black fruit and cherry aroma and some cedar earth and browny or chocolaty aroma's. This wine has a thick feel when tasting a good sip and that's because the grapes have been dried before the vinification. And thats good for the taste elements are thorougly decorating your palate this way. The taste after 9 years still has some blackcurrant freshness. Then there is this thick blend of bitterness and sweetness ranging from wood to ripe cherry flavour with chocolate in between. It is highly recomended with game or red meat. We had some nice simple pizza's and tried our last glass with some chocolate ... great !
