Zenato Corvina Blend Valpolicella Ripassa 2009
After fermentation the wine is put into barrels previously used for Recioto and Amarone and undergoes a slight re-fermentation that increases both the alcohol and body. Ripassa is deep ruby-red in color with a complex nose of dried fruit and licorice. The wine has excellent depth of fruit and is well structured, lingering on the palate.[80% Corvina, 10% Rondinella, and 10% Sangiovese]
Ripassa 2007 DOC, "Superiore" is not worth the money. Nice nose, no mid palette. Becareful, see my notes in 2007 Rippasa Zenato superiore.
I adore this wine and its notes of currants, blueberries and toasted oak. Great balance and pleasant structure. Try with veal.
Bursting with berry flavors. Rich plum and dry. Great tanins. Well structured.
Always killer. Super juicy on the frontend, fading into a nice, dry finish. Rich strawberry. It has rocked it with pasta just as easily as it rocked it with Batali pizza. Most recently had the '04.

The vineyards are situated on hills 300 metres above sea level. A distinguishing character of this area is the soil which is cretaceous morenic (made up of small stones). It is from here that this wine s name originates, Cresasso . Grapes: 100% Corvina VeroneseRegion: Italy / Veneto / Costalunga Estate, Sant AmbrogioMaker: Alberto ZenatoNotes: Ruby red in colour thanks to the fully mature Corvina and Rondinella grapes. Cresasso has a distinct cherry nose, typical of the Corvina grape, with hints of red fruit and blackberry, moving on to more sublte sensations of stewed plums and jam.
