What to Expect

Chardonnay is America's most popular grape and with good reason. Made in styles that range from steely, mineral laced wines with crisp green apple fruit to wines that are buttery, rich, and laden with tropical fruits, there is a Chardonnay that will appeal to every palate. Chardonnay is most closely associated with France's Burgundy region and California's Northern valleys though it has proven successful around the globe.

Winemakers Notes

This beautifully balanced wine has a complex and fragrant nose. Exotic aromas of papaya, grapefruit, pineapple, and citrus are layered with hints of coconut and toasty oak. On the palate, mouth filling flavors are balanced with a creamy texture and crisp acidity that develops into a long lasting aftertaste.Due to the exceptionally long, cool growing season of the 98 vintage, this Chardonnay can be expected to develop beautifully for several years to come.

The 1998 Chardonnay starts off with a delectable aroma of ripe melon and citrus, with hints of roasted grain and toasty oak. The luscious, mouth-coating flavor has a core of grapefruit, pineapple and apricot. All of these flavors lead to the aftertaste, which is rich, full-flavored and well balanced, with lingering nuances of honeyed lemon and spicy oak that leaves your mouth literally watering for more.
