ZD Cabernet Sauvignon Estate(2005)

The grapes for this Cabernet Sauvignon were sourced from several small, low-yielding Napa Valley vineyards, each with its own unique "terroir", giving us a varied palette of flavors and textures to work with in producing this wine. Sourced from multiple low-yield parcels throughout the valley this well-structured Napa Cabernet has glass filling aromas of black fruit - cassis and blackberries-as well as hints of tobacco, cedar, and cinnamon. On the palate there are multiple layers of dark plum, lingering cedar, spice and just a hint of oak and vanilla. The tannins are smooth, the finish rich and enduring. -Elizabeth Grubel

“The ZD Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon offers seductive aromas of cassis, black cherry, cedar, clove and sweet vanilla. On the palate, surprisingly soft, lush tannins complement the lively cherry, plum, vanilla and currant flavors that give this wine its distinctive elegance and depth. The wine finishes long and smooth with a final hint of toasty oak.”

Watery red fruit, short on the finish. Surprising as I have tasted many good stand-up wines from ZD before.
