What to Expect

Pinotage, a cross between Pinot Noir and Cinsault, is considered to be one of the classic grapes from South Africa. It can produce a very distinctive wine with a hint of rubber on the nose that leads to a rather fruity palate with notes of banana, plum and cherry. While the grape is high in tannins, the wine is produced in a broad range of styles.

A little different red. Not for everybody. People like it or they don't. Goes good with barbecued red meat. Doesn't go down easily but it won't bite. I love it but always warn my friends before serving it.

A bit racier in its acidity than most pinotage---and an astounding bargain ($3.99 at my local Trader Joe's). Bright berry, with decent structure. WIne is put through microoxygenation, though--so let it set for a minute or two after opening, and it'll come aright.
