Zaccagnini Montepulciano d'Abruzzo del Tralcetto 2007
I've been getting in to Italian wines lately, and Montepulcianos are quickly becoming one of my favorites. This one doesn't disappoint! Coffee, chocolate and cherry on the nose. Soft tannins and a nice finish. Very good QPR.
We bought a case of different, individual bottles priced between $10-$15 to compare and contrast ... trying to find one that's good that we can buy a case of. Half way through the case and this one is the winner so far. Only 13% alcohol - we're not in California high octane Grape Koolaid territory anymore. Nice fruit though - very cherry with a hint of licorice on the nose. Very easy drinking. Not a lot of tannins. This one may be the winner of the bunch.
When in doubt for pasta night, this bottle is my go to. Always reliable, typical of the montepulciano style--- bright fruit, a bit of earth and enough body to stand up to pasta but not so much it can't be enjoyed alone.Plus the straw detail is a contemporary stylish nod to the bottles on the red checkered table, even while the wine is a cut above. Great Value
Costco Regular :)
Big nose, bold intense oak and berry and long but smooth finish. Buy lots 'cause this should age well and develop very well.
Great wine for this price
Hard to beat much more flavor than a typical Montepulciano d'Abruzzo. Works well with veal.

Medium-bodied, with ripe red raspberry and black cherry notes. Subtle spice notes highlight the bright red fruit flavors, but the mouthfeel is smooth and mellow. Excellent table wine - pairs with almost anything!
A terroir-driven wine that even comes with its own piece of grapevine on the bottle. Loaded with floral aromas, dates, and red berries, this medium-bodied red is great with pizza and red-sauce dishes.
Shows aromas and flavors of forest fruits, with a hint of oak. Medium-bodied, with a well-balanced palate and a hint of vanilla on the finish. Nicely done. Drink now.
Deep garnet-purple colour. Ripe cherry and tobacco leaf aromas with a touch of game. Medium-full body with good concentration of fruit and a medium to high level of balancing acidity. Medium+ level of grainy tannins. Long finish. Tasted July 2009.
A tasty red, with currant, passion fruit and fig, with a hint of spicy vanilla. Medium-bodied, with fine, well-integrated tannins and a clean, chocolaty finish. Drink now.
90 Points - The Wine AdvocateDeep garnet-purple colour. Ripe cherry and tobacco leaf aromas with a touch of game. Medium-full body with good concentration of fruit and a medium to high level of bala
