When the market for those grapes died out, he decided to produce wine himself, with his cousin Concezio as the winemaker, eventually building a successful family business. The value-driven wines are produced with a signature grapevine twig wrap, which has been a key point in its successful brand recognition among consumers. The wines are produced as still reds, whites and that regional Abruzzo rosé specialty, Cerasuolo.  Read less

In Bolognano, a small town in the Abruzzi region which guards important treasures and traditions, Zaccagnini was established in 1978. Starting as a family-run business, the Winery has grown rapidly with the goal of “quality, from cluster to glass”. The winery now has 360 acres of beautiful, well-kept vineyards, and the winery is a model for the region. Chronicon is 100% Montepulciano d’Abruzzo. Grapes are harvested by hand. nce in the winery a gentle grape pressing is followed by maceration with controlled temperature and submerged-cap After fermentation the wine aged 12 months in French oak barriques. James Suckling gave it 90 points and said "A juicy and spicy red with plum and chocolatecharacter. Full body, soft tannins and a flavorful aftertaste. Drink now."

A terroir-driven wine that even comes with its own piece of grapevine on the bottle. Loaded with floral aromas, dates, and red berries, this medium-bodied red is great with pizza and red-sauce dishes.
