Zaca Mesa Z Cuvee United States California Santa Barbara Santa Ynez Valley Red 2007
This unique blend is inspired by the wines of Côtes du Rhône where they have been blending these varieties together for centuries to create wines that are greater than the sum of their parts. After hand harvesting, the grapes were gently de-stemmed, fermented and barrel aged separately for seven months, and then combined and aged for an additional nine months in French oak barrels.
Zaca Mesa Winery, located in the Santa Ynez Valley of Santa Barbara County, California, is dedicated to estate grown and bottled Rhône varietal wines. They hand craft their wines with integrity using traditional methods from grapes sustainably grown in their vineyard. Since 1973, they have farmed and nurtured their vineyard to produce wines that are true to the unique spirit of their land.
I stock up on this great value at each vintage release, but the '07 is the best in my experience. A great rhone blend. Lacks in complexity department, but the price and overall quality makes up for it.
