What to Expect

Viognier is one of the great grapes of France's Rhone Valley. It is an extremely aromatic variety redolent of ripe peaches and wild flowers. It is frequently used to add aromatic complexity to blended wines but on its own, delivers a rich, soft wine with high alcohol and deep flavors of honey, peach, apricot and tangerine.

Reviews

This estate-bottled Viogner from Santa Barbara has aromas of honeysuckle and mandarin orange. On the palate, this wine is deliciously dry, with apricot, mineral, and peach notes. Produced with limited intervention, this Rhone Ranger has created a great viogner.

On the nose, aromas of honeysuckle and white peach hint at sweetness. However, this wine is dry on the palate with notes of ripe apricot, lemon-lime, melon and lychee. A lingering finish has a touch of minerality, a signature characteristic of our vineyard. A natural pairing would be Thai chicken, ahi tuna or Szechuan prawns. Light at first, neither sweet nor oily, this viognier brightens to fresh, lasting lemon and peach flavors as it develops with air. Decant it to serve with seared scallops. Good wine. A little light for a Viognier, but still very good!
