What to Expect

The classic Bordeaux blends rely on either Merlot or Cabernet Sauvignon for the bulk of the wine with additions of Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, and Malbec helping to add complexity, color, body and structure to the finished wine.

Winemakers Notes

Winemaking Notes: At harvest, selected vineyard lots were crushed and fermented as with our other red wines. The selected lots were allowed to settle in a tank for 24 hours, then racked into oak cooperage for ageing. We used all French oak for this wine, of which 83% was new. After two years in oak, the lots were selected and carefully blended during several days of intensive blending sessions, with input from the proprietors, vineyard manager and the winemaking staff. The final blend proportions were racked into a tank, fined with organic eggwhites, and loosely filtered before being bottled. read more...

Reviews

This humble winery is devoted to honest winemaking, which shows in all of their wines. The clean tastes testify the organic nature of the winery. But even if you don't know all of that, the wines speak for themselves. Richard the Lion-hearted is a bold claret with delicate red fruits and a deep complexity that transforms the wine from big and powerful at times, to subtle and understated. Very smooth. Great with most red meats and could do well with pork.
