User Reviews for Yering Station Shiraz Blend Yarra Valley Shiraz Viognier

Winemaker's Notes:

Victoria's first vineyard, Yering Station, is located in the 'heart' of the Yarra Valley only one hours drive from Melbourne. As a family-owned winery, Yering Station has been recognised for its commitment to excellence, recently being inducted into the Australian Tourism Awards 'Hall of Fame' for Best Tourism Winery, 2005. Yering Station is renowned for producing award-winning wines of world-class quality and distinction. Now led by Winemaker Willy Lunn, Yering Station was honoured with the prestigious 'Winemaker of the Year’ at the International Wine and Spirit Competition in London, 2004. The grapes for this wine are sourced from vineyards situated in the cooler climate areas of the Yarra valley, not too far from Melbourne. The addition of 5% Viogner to the Shiraz adds an element of opulent aromatic character to the nose and softens the palate, a technique used traditionally in the Cote Rotie area of the Northern Rhone. The wine is deep garnet in colour with a complex and powerful nose, it has aromas of ripe berries, complex violet, liquorice and spice with a tarry oak complexity. The palate is full and rich with liquorice and floral flavours. Well balanced with soft ripe tannins and a silky, long and clean finish. Easy to match with a variety of dishes, from grilled or roasted white meats to pan fried, roasted or barbecued red meats, pasta dishes and cheese.
