Suggested Recipe Pairing presented by
Coconut Rice Sweet Potato Cheesecake

RiceSelect's creamy Arborio gets blended with sweet potato, coconut milk and vanilla to create this decadent cheesecake. Pairs well with Saunternes; a white dessert wine that has hints of coconut from aging in oak barrels.

I tasted this wine over a 2-day period, the first time was after 10 minutes of being opened; I was definitely very impressed... flavours still not developed nor balanced. I tasted it the following day, I was not very keen but did it anyway... I was blown away; so perfectly balanced, flavours just exploded and lingered, danced in my mouth; a completely different wines. This wine still needs a couple of years and a good decanting and voila! my rating is based in the second tasting (or after some hours of decanting).

With aromas of herbs, cherries, raspberries, and warm spices on the palate, this medium-bodied wine is quite stunning. Open a bottle tonight and you’ll immediately understand why Yering Station has received tremendous accolades in Australia this past year.

Winemaker's Notes:

Victoria's first vineyard, Yering Station, is located in the 'heart' of the Yarra Valley only one hours drive from Melbourne. As a family-owned winery, Yering Station has been recognised for its commitment to excellence, recently being inducted into the Australian Tourism Awards 'Hall of Fame' for Best Tourism Winery, 2005. Yering Station is renowned for producing award-winning wines of world-class quality and distinction. Now led by Winemaker Willy Lunn, Yering Station was honoured with the prestigious 'Winemaker of the Year’ at the International Wine and Spirit Competition in London, 2004. This Pinot Noir is ruby red in colour with uplifted aromas of black cherry and plum, complex floral undertones with hints of spice and tar. It is intensely rich, with a well balanced palate, where red berries and toasty oak are the dominant flavours, with an attractive savoury, spicy finish. A rich, silky and elegant wine. Serve it with duck, quail, goose and venison.
