Citrus and honeydew flavors are further complexed by gentle French oak aging. The palate is soft yet fresh with balanced acidity and a soft creamy finish.

Straightforward and soft bodied, with lots of sweet yellow and tropical fruit; even oak and mallowy flavors tack a backseat to the bright fruit. Irsquo;m not saying itrsquo;s nuanced, but this is the easy, quaffable kind of wine that draws novices into enophilia in the first place.

There should be no complaints with this Chardonnay. Apple, pineapple, butter and toasted oak load the flavor package. The perfect balance and velvety mouthfeel provide a solid background. The producer recommends kangaroo tail soup with this one mdash; and why not? You get to go to Australia, and kangaroo is low in fat and cholesterol.

Winemakers' Notes:Hints of citrus, grapfruit and light melon flavors. Tree-Free Chardonnay has a lighter, more crisp flavor profile than our traditional (Yellow Tail) Chardonnay and has no oak aging, hence the name.

The 2002 Chardonnay possesses some residual sugar, but there are abundant notes of honeysuckle and tropical fruit in this medium-bodied, sweet but refreshing, fruity Chardonnay. One cannot ask for much more for the money.
