Yasmin Red Mevushal 2013 - 90 points, Wine & Spirits/ If only more Israeli wines were like this: fresh and unadorned with oak. A blend of 80 percent cabernet sauvignon and 20 percent merlot, it’s sunny and bright, balanced between herbal notes and juicy black fruit, ripe but not overly so. It’s not complex, but it’s a well made everyday red. And it also happens to be mevushal.

Yasmin red Mevushal 2012 - 87 points, Wine Enthusiast/ Cherry, clove and freesia aromas give way to flavors of cherry, mint, anise and clove. Well-integrated fruit and spice notes, good mouthfeel and tannins that stop just shy of chewy continue to the lasting finish. Mevushal.

Located in Israel’s Hefer Valley, the Recanati Winery is a showcase winemaking facility, equipped with the most innovative technology available today. Owned by Lenny Recanati, a native of Israel with ancestral roots stretching back to Italy, the winery is the fruit of Lenny’s life-long dream to produce truly world-class wines. Chief winemaker is Gil Shatsberg, a graduate of the U.C. Davis wine program. Formerly a winemaker at Israel’s Amphorae and Carmel wineries, Gil brings to Recanati proven expertise in his field, allied to a devotion to artistry and craftsmanship in winemaking. The Recanati Yasmin series of wines is specifically produced to be “mevushal” – keeping it kosher, regardless of who serves it, an important consideration for kosher caterers and restaurants. Recanati wines are certified kosher . Production Area Jezreel valley and Lachish vineyards, Israel Grape Varieties 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot Vinification After primary and malolactic fermentations, the wine is flash-pasteurized by an in-line procedure and then immediately cooled to normal bottling temperature (about 65°F).
