Winemaker's Notes:

Yarra Yering was established in 1969 by Dr. Bailey Carrodus, a New Zealander by birth and a botanist by training. The winery is located in the heart of the Yarra Valley, just east of Melbourne, in Victoria. The vineyard area now covers 80 acres. Yarra Yerings offerings are as distinctive as the ruminative man who makes them, with 15 different grape varieties being planted. Complex, unique and with a reputation for not suffering fools gladly, Bailey Carrodus is one of the true characters in Australian wine. He uses unusual and idiosyncratic winemaking methods to create extraordinary wines such as this Yarra Yerring Potsorts. Made in appreciation of the styles of the Douro, this fortified wine utilises the same 6 varietals used in the No. 3. Although concentrated, powerful and complex, the style is more about the interplay of acidity, fruit flavour and tannin than overt sweetness and drinks more like a table wine.
