Not really my style, a big, jammy Australian Shiraz at 15% alc/vol. Initial impression of eucalyptus. Plums, cherry, mint, and eucalyptus on the palate. Some spice in the aftertaste. Not terribly balanced, but definitely rich and dark.

This wine boasts raspberries and juniper with aromas that are vibrant and explosive. The palate is concentrated with black fruits, and a touch of spicy dark chocolate and soft, grainy tannins. It is smooth and very nicely balanced. Rustic dishes, such as lamb with Rosemary, work well with this wine.

Cassis, spice, vanilla and licorice nose. Blackberries, licorice, tar and oak, moderate tannnins in palate. Needs another two years. Finish is long, and redolent with utmeg and plums.

Wine Tasting NotesOur vineyard is in the coolest parts of mclaren vale, giving our low yields times to slowly accumulate concentrated powerful flavours of blackberry and plums, with hints of spice. The open fermenters and wild yeast allow maximum extraction and complexity with soft silky tannins.

Yangarra Single Estate Shiraz - 2005 92 POINTS - Robert Parker The 2005 Shiraz is purple-colored with an expressive perfume of cedar, smoke, game, blueberry, and blackberry. Full-bodied with a broad palate and mouth-coating fruit, it has outstanding depth, tons of black fruit flavor, and a long pure finish. Drink it over the next 6-8 years. Yangarra Estate Vineyards, whose first vintage was in 2000, was purchased by Jess Jackson in 2001. It is located in the Foothills/Blewitt Springs region of McLaren Vale. Grenache and Shiraz are the two principal varieties planted on the estate. The winery uses all wild ferments, 100% French oak, predominantly new.

Another hit for this Kendall-Jackson brand - Yangarra Park is becoming synonmyous with excellent wines at fair prices. Nose is a little hot at first, but later reveals pastry flour and black pepper aromas. Ripe red plums and vanilla accents unfold in the mouth. Not a huge, rich wine, but certainly a classy one.

Rich and plump, a flood of fruit, with powerful blackberry, plum and a wee touch of peppermint, all echoing through the long finish. A serious McLaren Vale Shiraz, built to last. Drink now through 2010.

Has a wonderful sense of freshness to the blueberry and plum flavors, shaded with peppermint and a touch of espresso as the finish lasts and lasts against mildly grippy tannins. Has style without sacrificing purity. Best from 2006 through 2015.

Ripe and distinctive for its gamy, spicy character, a fleshy Shiraz with fine tannins wrapped around the generous berry and licorice flavors at the core. Finishes long. Drink now through 2010.

Supple and intense, the velvet texture of this wine seems to start right from the black color and black fig aroma. It's dense and perfumed, with violets and heady spice, while the flavors taste pure and delicious. The rich middle comes up against hard tannins, ending on black pepper and pomegranate, suited to age. Remarkably evocative of McLaren for the price.
