Yalumba Y Series Sangiovese Rose 2013

Editorial Review by Gregory Dal Piaz:

Quite intense on the nose with early aromas of crushed stone followed by wild flower and wild strawberry fruit that shows a hint of greenness. Acid driven on the palate, and light and fresh in the mouth with just a hint of glycerin richness adding some contour to the juicy core of red berry fruit. Not terribly complex, though some herb and earth emerges on the finish, this delightfully easy to drink and shows in a fruity but not too intense style that I like. Yummy 87pts

Yalumba was founded in 1849 by Samuel Smith, British migrant and English brewer, who had brought his family to Angaston seeking a new life. After purchasing a 30-acre parcel of land just beyond the southern-eastern boundary of Angaston, Smith and his son began planting the first vines by moonlight. Samuel named his patch "Yalumba" – aboriginal for "all the land around". Six generations and more than 150 years later Yalumba, Australia's oldest family owned winery, has grown in size and stature, embodying all that has made the Australian wine success story the envy of winemakers the world over. Yalumba wines have a style all of their own and each have been influenced by a diverse range of elements. Elements Yalumba likes to call 'the controllables', such as the Yalumba Vine Nursery and on-site cooperage – as well as other factors that cannot be emulated by any other winery. Yalumba’s history and tradition combined with a reputation for innovation. Bright and fruit forward aromas of strawberry, fresh cut melon and grass, and some cherry. Zesty and light mouthfeel, with more unripe strawberry and cut grass.

Great spring & summer refresher. Floral, fragrant nose leads to bright berry flavors and a crisp finish. This is an office favorite and a house favorite.

Aroma of watermelon. There is a hint of cherry and fruit as this offering rolls across the palate. Balanced, light and not excessively sweet, if you go for Rose’s this one’s not bad. 85.

I liked this Rose! It's very light-bodied, so would be nice as an aperitif, with your appetizer course, or just for sipping all day. I liked the minerality of this wine, as it really balanced the berries on the palate. Excellent choice for the price.

Great chardonnay, it is partially barrel fermented, so has a nice, light, tangy oakyness. Very good value, I highly recommend. Paired exceptionally well with Asian style shrimp and vegetables over rice, roasted fennel and leeks and, sauteed mushrooms.

With a fine ruby colour, Yalumba Y Series Sanviovese Rose 2006 has exoticaromas of raspberries, strawberries and cream with notes of lilac and violets, all with a minerally edge. A succulent mouth feel is enhanced by flavours ofstrawberry, rhubarb and cinnamon. It opens to a fine dense body of wine witha soft texture that is long and beautifully balanced.A wonderful fresh wine for current drinking, try serving it slightly chilled. Aperfect complement to a wide range of cuisine, or as a refreshing glass of wineon its own.

This Chard is smooth and medium-bodied, with aromas and flavors of vanilla bean, passion fruit and pear. Welcoming and easy to drink, it shows some complexity yet is sure to please just about everyone.
