Food Pairings for Yalumba Viognier Eden Valley
Editorial Reviews for Yalumba Viognier Eden Valley
A little vanilla biscuit greets the nose along with subtle notes of ginger, jasmine, dried orange peel and curry leaf. Bright and round on entry, this quickly gains some impressive snap on the palate. There’s plenty of richness but the acid keeps this quite focused. The fruit is gentle if distinct with a creamy edge to the toasted almond, lime and pineapple-tinged core of white peach fruit. The finish shows more mineral notes and an almost stern quality. Through its rather long duration, this shows a bed of dried lime peel and apricot-toned fruit. A rather serious and powerful example of Viognier and quite fine at that. 92pts

Melded with the peach and apricot silkiness is an exotic spice twist plus a hint of lemon, and honeysuckle. Weighty palate, delicious drinking. http://www.spittoon.biz/a_wine_for_curry_1_murgh_masal.html
Floral to me and good Viognier for $10.
eesh. Call me crazy but i got Vienna sausage on the nose and couldn't break the thought. I think it's supposed to be floral but smelled more like fermented flowers to me. Weird and savory. Bitter on the palate. Not a fan.
92 pts Wine Spectator 'Smart Buy'. On list of Top 100 wines of 2009.
The soft, silky texture of this wine holds a lot of savory spice notes as well as ripe white peach fruit (note: this will be released in six weeks or so). Yalumba was the first Australian winery to commercially plant Viognier, by the by, and Robert Hill Smith of Yalumba was by our office the other day, which was convenient timing for this blog entry. About Viognier he says, "It's a naturally opulent fruit style, so the challenge is constraining it a bit." http://www.foodandwine.com/blogs/tasting-room/2009/3/31/Very-Good-Viogniers

Aromas and flavors of fresh ginger and candied grapefruit and apricot with hints of white flowers.
Yalumba Y Series Viognier is a pale gold with green hues. The aroma offers intense white flowers and honeysuckle, with hints of apricot nectar. The palate is rich and very long and ripe, with citrus and tropical fruit flavors.
An enchanting wine with aromas of lemon and honeysuckle with hints of spice. The palate is rich, luscious and silky with juicy tropical fruit, citrus and lychee.
