Winemaker's Notes:

Berry Bros & Rudd review: Yalumba is Australia's oldest family-owned winery, having been established in 1849 by English emigrant Samuel Smith. Despite a well-earned reputation for innovation in recent times, the Company has for decades specialised in red wine blends, principally Cabernet Sauvignon with Shiraz, and this is one of their highly individual examples.

All the fruit is hand-picked. The Scribbler has a complex aroma of black cherries, cassis, and blueberries interwoven with mocha and dark chocolate notes and a hint of spice. On the palate the typical cabernet characteristics emerge, blackcurrant, cedarwood and tobacco, balanced by the richer, deeper sweet fruit intensity of ripe Shiraz. The finish is long and balanced with slightly peppery, black olive elements.

(Alun Griffiths MW, BBR Wine Director)
