Strawberry tops, herbs, wild grasses and hints of white pepper and faded exotic spices. On the palate this shows good depth of fruit, dark raspberry and strawberry notes with a fine mineral vein that adds fine cut through the richness. This really exhibits fine balance, with solid supporting structure lurking just under the wonderfully transparent yet faceted fruit of the mid-palate. This is nice and tense right through juicy finish. Nice detail here, though this is showing a bit chunkier than the last time I enjoyed it. 88pts

Light, clear crimson. Yes, its in the Barossa Valley, not McLaren Vale style, but a particularly good example, with fresh red fruits and a vibrant finish, tannins present but no more, oak irrelevant. What a vintage. James Halliday. A Grenache wine from South Australia in Australia. 2010 Yalumba Grenache Bushvine 750ml

Winemaker's Notes:

A full crimson red with purple hues, this wine has a generous and bright aroma that opens to a spicy clove lift then moves into hints of white pepper and savoury notes amongst an earthy background. This is further complemented by sweet plums and red cherry fruits. Wrapped around a core of juicy redcurrant fruits, the palate combines layers of fleshy sweet flavours and a fine grained tannin finish. Smoothly balanced and eminently drinkable, this is a wine of medium weight but full on flavour. A perfect match with a juicy roast chicken with roasted potatoes, parsnips and garlic. Also suitable for vegans and vegetarians.
