Lovely 100% grenache! Especially for the price!! Great hints of cherry, raspberry, cranberry, and a little bark essence. On the palate the fruit speaks out. A winner in my book.

Bush Vine Grenache 2007 - Yalumba: Bush Vine Grenache 2007 - Rotwein von YalumbaDieser besondere Grenache stammt von 70 Jahre alten Rebstöcken, die in Buschform gezogen werden (bush vine).Im Glas zeigt sich ein mittelintensives Purpurrot. Sein Bukett verströmt ein komplexes Aroma von Pflaumen, Schokolade und Trüffel. Der Gaumen wird von Kräutern, Süßkirschen und Zimt berührt, ein kräftiger Rotwein mit mittelkräftigem Körper und frischer, aber gut eingebundener Säure. Die feinkörnigen und weichen Tannine geben dem Yalumba Bush Vine Grenache 2007 den letzten Schliff. Schöne Fruchtnoten begleiten auch das Finale. Winemaker's Notes:

To maximise the blending options, all batches of Bushvine Grenache were fermented as separate parcels in 8 tonne open top stainless steel fermenters, utilising the Yalumba designed cap plunger for cap management. The natural or 'wild' yeasts present on the grape skins were allowed to initiate the sugar fermentation. Cultured winery yeasts were then added to complete this fermentation. This has resulted in a wine of greater complexity and individuality. Yalumba is extremely fortunate to have amongst its growers a resource of very old, gnarly bush vines which produce low yields of concentrated Grenache. A range of terroir can be seen across the different vineyards, from sandy soils to sandy loam to red-brown earth over red clay. This is a wine that opens with bright red fruits and spices with hints of violets and roses, plus some savoury complexity. On the palate, it shows richness and ripeness with textured layers of red and blueberry fruits and youthful structure.
