What to Expect

Viognier is one of the great grapes of France's Rhone Valley. It is an extremely aromatic variety redolent of ripe peaches and wild flowers. It is frequently used to add aromatic complexity to blended wines but on its own, delivers a rich, soft wine with high alcohol and deep flavors of honey, peach, apricot and tangerine.

Winemakers Notes

A small percentage of the fruit harvested for this 2007 wine was taken from the new Viognier clonal vineyard plantings, a program which Yalumba has pioneered for 10 years. The inclusion of these clones is yet another milestone in the Yalumba Viognier journey. After harvest about 60% of the fruit was gently pressed directly to barrels, the rest to a stainless steel tank. #55 Wine Spectator Top 100 of 2008 The wine is pale gold in color with green highlights, with a nose displaying aromas of apricot nectar, lifted honeysuckle and orange oil perfume. The palate is long, rich and luscious with intense stone fruit flavors, particularly white peach and apricot, finishing with an aromatic citrus freshness. Smooth and silky, this is generous with its pear, lemon curd and floral aromas and flavors, coursing gently through the long, expressive finish. Drink now through 2011. 91 Points Harvey Steiman, Wine Spectator

Tasted this today at Marche Bacchus and had to take a bottle home. It's a great white for hot summer days. Great apricot, pear and floral flavors. Very smooth and nice.
