Yalumba Cabernet-Shiraz Blend Barossa Valley the Scribbler 2006

Winemaker's Notes:

Yalumba has remained steadfast in its commitment to the Cabernet Sauvignon blend. Some of Australia’s most legendary wines have been made in this style, and at the forefront has been Yalumba, who set the benchmark with ‘The Signature’ series of wine, made continuously since 1962. Yalumba ‘The Scribbler' Cabernet Sauvignon / Shiraz is a youthful embodiment of ‘The Signature’ which reflects dedication to this blend and celebrates its heritage. This wine is full depth red in colour with purple hues, displaying an aroma of brooding Barossa Cabernet with dark berried fruits, hints of mint and leafiness. The palate is full and stylish showing Shiraz sweetness and plumminess, but finishing with long fine tannins. Perfect now, but will certainly cellar over the next 5-10 years. A perfect food match with a roasted rack of lamb.

Yalumba was founded in 1849 by Samuel Smith, British migrant and English brewer, who had brought his family to Angaston seeking a new life. After purchasing a 30-acre parcel of land just beyond the southern-eastern boundary of Angaston, Smith and his son began planting the first vines by moonlight. Samuel named his patch "Yalumba" – aboriginal for "all the land around". Six generations and more than 150 years later Yalumba, Australia's oldest family owned winery, has grown in size and stature, embodying all that has made the Australian wine success story the envy of winemakers the world over. Yalumba wines have a style all of their own and each have been influenced by a diverse range of elements. Elements Yalumba likes to call 'the controllables', such as the Yalumba Vine Nursery and on-site cooperage – as well as other factors that cannot be emulated by any other winery. Yalumba’s history and tradition combined with a reputation for innovation. nice wine. strong character as it said from Signature series. However, taste not lasting... May improve after 5-10 years
