What to Expect

Carmenère is one of a small group of wines that thrives in its adopted land but struggles to gain acceptance at home. It still is used on occasion in France's Bordeaux region where it adds color and complexity to blends with its distinctive mélange of smoky, herbal and gamy tones. In South America, particularly Chile, it ripens fully and the wines take on added layers of dark berry fruit that gives it a balance rarely achieved in France.

Reviews

Deep, dark purple. Complex nose with lots of ripe plum, dark berry fruits, sweet spice, chocolate and just a hint of coffee. Rich, well-rounded mouth with all the nose said would be there plus a very attractive vanilla note. Soft, well-rounded tannins

I can confirm that 2003 vintage was yummy. Visible oak and plum.
