Xplorador Cabernet Sauvignon 2009
External Reviews for Xplorador Cabernet Sauvignon
Good black cherry, plum and vanilla flavors in this fleshy, medium-weight Cabernet, with a round, smoky finish. Drink now.
Ripe and ready, with powerful dark fruit. This is a fine "starter" Cab from Chile and Concha y Toro, one that will impress novices and satisfy the high end drinker as well. The palate is lightly sugary, but the black fruit is ripe and tasty. And the tannins are there, as they should be, although they're not overwhelming.
Currant and blackberry shine through this very good Cabernet, with brier and toast notes on the finish. Medium-weight, with a nice hearty texture, it more than delivers for the price. Drink now through 2003.
Juicy flavors of ripe Morello cherries float on the silky texture of this cabernet. It's light enough to drink chilled with grilled salmon.
Dark, ruby-red. Plum and cherry notes with a touch of vanilla. Concentrated and soft, with rich flavors of cherry and toasty oak.
Medium-bodied, with typical Maipo notes of mint, loam and red currant. Coffee-tinged finish, with supple tannins. Honest to its origins. Nicely done. Drink now through 2004.
Incredibly saturated and lively for such an affordable cabernet, with ripe aromas of leather, dried herbs and a hint of pickle barrel. It whets the whistle with currant and berry flavors accented by spice and licorice. Xplorador Cab is almost always a solid buy, maybe more so in 2003 than usual. Think of it as the poster child for value reds from Chile.
