Xavier Vignon Cote du Rhone Rouge 2010

This Xavier Wine I am enjoying tonight was tasted at Marquis Wines Vancouver BC served by the blender of the wine (when he was in the south of France), John Clerides, proprietor. I don't know John well, but he's a clever guy: the eclectic blend of minor grape varieties along with the usual Grenache base is delicious - with a twist; the bright cherry is augmented on entry with licorice, sage, and a hint of black currant. This wine is well made, delicious and will age a couple more years with a little tannic pucker lingering on the medium finish. 89-90 points.
