Xavier Flouret Marly 2010

Winemaker's Notes:

PRODUCER: Domaine Hamelin WINEMAKER: Thierry Hamelin HISTORY Since 1860, the Hamelin family has been growing vines in Chablis on a Domaine that is now 36-hectare. The family is both truthful to the heritage and traditions of their ancestors while at the same time using modern techniques to bring out the intrinsic qualities of the Chablis terroir. VITICULTURE & VINIFICATION The 30 year-old vines yield 60 Hl / hectare for the Chablis AOC. Harvest is done manually (10%) and mechanically (90%). Domaine Hamelin works in a way that is respectful of the environment by adhering to "lutte raisonnée", limiting the use of pesticides and herbicides, the emphasis is put on working the soil naturally. In the thermo regulated winery the must comes out of the press to the tanks by gravity to once again ensure ideal quality. AGEING Wines age in stainless steel tanks.

The nose is rather intense with a nice layering of apricot, steel and lime all wrapped with a touch of sweet quince jelly. Rich and bright, this packs a one-two punch of fine acids and generous fruit on entry. The flavors show some greengage plum with apple core and nectarine notes. The finish offers a more mineral, vivid and focused expression of Chablis, though the sweetness of ripe fruit persists on the palate. Pretty intense stuff though not exactly my style of Chablis. 87pts

A small hint of oak. Extremely sweet, ripe fruit. Smooth, creamy, and thick. A little too thick to be a casual drinking wine, but good nonetheless. Pair it with seafood and it will do very well.

Apple and lemon nose, lychee and honeycrisp apple in mouth -- a lot of sweetness.

Lightly laced with wood, this attractive ripe wine shows pear and peach flavors and vivid acidity. It is well textured, with a streak of apple and pear skins. Fine grained wine, with attractive final acidity. R.V.

Tasting Notes:

Eye: Bright yellow with green reflection. Nose: Delicate fresh flavors of white blossoms of hawthorn. Palate: Smooth, refreshing, fruity and deliciously mineral mouth feel. The long finish is pleasantly powerful.
