Wynns Coonawarra Estate Chardonnay Coonawarra 2011
Bright pale straw colour with green edges. Lifted white peach and pear aromas are balanced by lightly toasted buttery oak. Elegant crisp melon fruit and complex French oak barrel ferment characters add texture to the fine and lively palate. A good balance between fruit, acid and oak as stonefruit flavours and subtle citrus notes add to the seamlessness and length. The long ripening season in Coonawarra's cool southerly climes yield Chardonnay with excellent varietal character. Delicate yet flavoursome, showcasing the elegance of slowly ripened fruit, Coonawarra makes luxurious and well proportioned white wines, this one finishes with very fine caramel oak characters, perennially characteristic of Wynns Chardonnay.
Nose: melon, peach, cashew, savoury. Palate: Melon, cashew, peach, lemon oil, lemon peel. Savoury, with some richness and complexity from lees and barrel ferment. Long, with a certain amount of minerally acid on the back palate, lively acid, rich smooth creamy mouthfeel. Very good for the price.

Wine Tasting NotesAs a young wine it displays a rich amalgam of melon, fig and citrus fruit finely balanced with vanillin oak. There are hints of butterscotch and roasted nuts from malolactic fermentation and barrel maturation. Bottle ageing is rewarded with increased richness and peaches, cream and buttered toast characters intensify.
