Wyndham Estate Chardonnay Bin 222 2014

Editorial Review by Gregory Dal Piaz:

Dusty and herbal on the nose with a hint of dried rose petal accenting the core of lean, earthy bosc pear peel notes. Broad and a bit soft on entry. This has some viscosity to it and a nice if slightly heavy pear/peach nectar quality to the fruit but the wine just sits in the mouth with no tension. The finish is fresh, returning to the earthy pear notes of the nose with good length but can’t make up for the weight palate. 83pts

We create wines that are generous and full-flavoured – for people who want more intensity and sensation from their wine experience. George Wyndham became the father of Australian Shiraz when he planted the country’s first commercial shiraz vineyard in 1830. It was here, in his vineyard and house that is now a Heritage Listed National Trust Treasure, that he dedicated his life to creating full-flavoured wines.  This proud legacy of innovation and dedication endures at Wyndham Estate, where knowledge and experience is built upon by each generation of winemakers. A wider range of distinctively full-flavoured wines are crafted today. Still, Shiraz remains the signature variety of Wyndham Estate - the birthplace of Australian Shiraz. Read less

Light and fruity, with pretty melon and pear aromas and flavors, which echo nicely.

A pillowy and tropical Chard that doesnrsquo;t get sloppy soft or overly tart and hard. Toasted marshmallow, pineapple and banana aromas; lightly caramelized pineapple dusted with cinnamon flavors. Finishes with a smoky edge.
