Rich, almost exotic, with distinctive raspberry, dark cherry and floral aromas and flavors on a supple frame, finishing with remarkable focus and length. Has the depth and intensity to develop in the cellar. Best from 2001 through 2008.

Chewy texture and vivid, ripe, violet-scented currant and berry flavors make this a good cellar candidate - or drink it with a juicy steak. It's impressive for its intensity and length.

Good medium ruby. Black raspberry, dark chocolate and deep oak tones on the nose. Sweet, lush and rich, with noteworthy depth to the flavors of black raspberry, cassis, chocolate and spices. A big, broad, mouthfilling merlot that finishes with substantial ripe, dusty tannins and very good length.

The 2005 Merlot has 6% Cabernet Franc added to the blend. Purple colored and slightly muted aromatically, with coaxing, notes of spice box, red currants, and black cherry emerge. On the palate the wine is firm, with light tannins and spicy, savory flavors. Nicely balanced but slightly austere, it will drink well from 2010 to 2017.

Dark, dense and chewy up front, with a soft core that glows with cherry, berry and smoky spice flavors that are spread on the velvety finish. Drink now through 2005.
