Woodward Canyon Chardonnay Chardonnay Wine 2014

External Review:

Quite young and tight with primary apple melon and stone-fruit flavors this is that rare domestic Chardonnay that surely will reward cellaring. With decanting it becomes creamier with an aromatic lift of cinnamon and a thread of vanilla running through the toasty finish. A baby but already delicious. Wine Enthusiast.

Since that time, the winery has consistently produced premium, award-winning cabernet sauvignons and merlots as well as chardonnays. Early on Rick determined that quality would take precedence over quantity. Consequently, Woodward Canyon has remained small, increasing its production from 1,200 cases in 1981 to our current production of about 17,000 cases. About 7,000 of this total production is Nelms Road, Woodward Canyon's second label. Click here to read more about Nelms Road. Woodward Canyon is a founding member of the Walla Walla Valley Wine Alliance and of Walla Walla Valley Vinea, the Winegrower's Sustainable Trust. Woodward Canyon Winery is located in Lowden, about 13 miles west of Walla Walla, Washington. Our tasting room is a restored 1870's farmhouse. Read less

Nectarine quince and a hint of honey on the nose. Supple sweet and dense with rich nicely concentrated flavors of stone fruits and spices. Well-balanced smooth and juicy wine with a subtle echoing finish. Stephen Tanzers IWC.

Vintage: 2010 06/20/2014

The 2010 Chardonnay was sourced from the winery s estate vineyard and the Celilo Vineyard and was aged in 20% new oak for 6 months. It displays a fragrant nose of poached pear spiced apple and hints of tropical fruit with the oak fully integrated. Creamy on the palate with the fruit nicely framed by the vibrant acidity of the 2010 vintage it is likely to evolve for 1-2 years and drink well through 2017. -Jay Miller Robert Parkers Wine Advocate.
