Woodward Canyon Artist Series Cabernet Sauvignon Washington 2003

Winemaker's Notes:

This wine has a beautiful nose of spicy oak and cedar integrated with ripe black fruits and cherry. A firm, rich mouth feel begins with cassis and black berry, leading towards chocolate and mocha. The finish is generous and long. While this wine can be enjoyed now, it will definitely benefit from additional cellaring and, with proper storage, should develop for eight years or more.

Since that time, the winery has consistently produced premium, award-winning cabernet sauvignons and merlots as well as chardonnays. Early on Rick determined that quality would take precedence over quantity. Consequently, Woodward Canyon has remained small, increasing its production from 1,200 cases in 1981 to our current production of about 17,000 cases. About 7,000 of this total production is Nelms Road, Woodward Canyon's second label. Click here to read more about Nelms Road. Woodward Canyon is a founding member of the Walla Walla Valley Wine Alliance and of Walla Walla Valley Vinea, the Winegrower's Sustainable Trust. Woodward Canyon Winery is located in Lowden, about 13 miles west of Walla Walla, Washington. Our tasting room is a restored 1870's farmhouse. Read less

A very good find, though this vintage is getting harder to find and more pricey.

One of my all time favorite Washington cabs. really well balanced and beautifully structured. It has some very nice notes of chocolate in the nose that cary over into the pallate. A really smooth drinker. Easy to drink now, but I think it will cellar nicely.

Wonderful wine from a wonderful winery. Clearly designed as a support for food, it can also stand on its own, especially on day 2.
