Woodward Canyon Artist Series #13 2004
This wine is integrated with spicy new oak, generous black fruits, a silky texture, and deep purple/red color. The wine is beautifully proportioned with a long finish of cassis, chocolate-covered cherries, mocha, and vanilla. This enticing cabernet will benefit significantly with additional bottle age and should easily age for fifteen years with proper storage. The 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon - Artist Series also contains 1% Cabernet Franc. and is a blend from five of the top vineyards in the state. It was aged predominantly in new French oak for 20 months. The wine is opaque purple-colored with a fragrant bouquet of pain grille, spice box, black cherry and black currants. It is full-bodied with a supple palate-feel, oodles of sweet fruit, and ripe tannins. This impressive effort manages to combine power and elegance. It will benefit from 3-5 years of cellaring and drink well through 2030.
Wine Advocate ReviewRich, ripe and harmoniously balanced, this is dense with blackberry, plum, licorice, cream and spice flavors that don't quit as the finish sails on and on. Has tremendous presence, yet remains supple through the expressive finish. Drink now through 2020.Wine Tasting NotesThis wine has a beautiful nose of spicy oak and cedar integrated with ripe black fruits and cherry. A firm rich mouth feel begins with cassis and black berry leading towards chocolate and mocha. The finish is generous and long, yet there is still restraint. While this wine can be enjoyed now it will definitely benefit from additional cellaring and, with proper storage, should develop for ten years or more.
