Woodstock Cabernet Sauvignon Mclaren Vale 2009
There are 4 blocks of Cabernet on the Estate... each providing a unique character to the wine. Low yielding old vines from our Honey Hut block provide palate weight, Block 3 vines provide a hearty back bone, our “Pineless” Block provides lifted berry characters enhanced by the Creek Block’s added leafiness. Yields range from 6 to 10 tonnes per hectare. Small berries with ample fermentation time on skins result in great colour and tannin structure. This wine was matured for 18 months in 8% new oak and the rest in seasoned American oak to provide softness and complexity.
Here at Woodstock Estate, we endeavor to capture the essence of our regional home - McLaren Vale. We strive for absolute quality, which for us, begins in our well established vineyards, through every phase of winemaking, to the manner of which our wines are presented and served to you. The Woodstock portfolio includes a range of fresh aromatic whites, opulent yet finely structured reds and finally, an eclectic little selection of after dinner wines.
Nice, smooth wine. Not too jammy like many other Cab Sauv.
Can't believe no one has rated this awesome wine. It is drinking well right now but will age wonderful for another 5+ years. I would highly recommend buying a few and lying tthem down for a special occasion.
Food Pairings for Woodstock Cabernet Sauvignon Mclaren Vale
Classic leafy Cabernet aromas, with alluring hints of cedar and spice bouquet. Evolving flavours of juicy blackberries, rhubarb, eucalypt, toasty oak and mint combine with a rich, fleshy middle palate to create a balanced, savoury finish that lingers. The 2010 vintage of Woodstock Cabernet Sauvignon has bright acid and firm yet elegant tannins which provide complexity and roundness. This is a wine that will reward six to ten years of cool cellaring allowing the tannins to softer while the flavours grow.
